PRRI Research Assistant

Position Summary:

The Research Assistant will be responsible for contributing to PRRI’s major research reports, blog posts, and other scholarly work. The Research Assistant will be involved in all stages of the research process, including questionnaire design, analysis of the survey findings, and drafting the final report. The Research Assistant will also assist in responding to media requests, producing toplines and banners, and number-checking all of PRRI’s research products. This position reports to the Director of Research.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing (30%):

o   Working with other team members, assist with writing content for all PRRI publications, including research reports, blog posts, scholarly articles, and other writing tasks as assigned.

  • Research & Analysis (70%):

o   Assist with number checking and fact checking all research products

o   Assist with background research and questionnaire development

o   Construct survey toplines and banners

o   Conduct custom analyses in response to media requests

o   Create PowerPoint presentations

o   Create tables and charts using Microsoft Excel and HighCharts

o   Review social media content—Tweets, Facebook posts—for accuracy

Qualifications:

  • B.A. in Political Science, Sociology, or a related field
  • One to three years of experience conducting survey research or writing about surveys for a lay audience
  • Outstanding written and communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SPSS strongly preferred

Job Posting: Director of the Center for Church Management and Business Ethics

The Villanova School of Business invites applications for the position of Director of the Center for Church Management and Business Ethics. The Director oversees all church management programs, including its non-credit course offerings, its research efforts, and the business school’s for-credit MS in Church Management degree, as well as raising funding to support these activities. A separate faculty director oversees the Center’s Business Ethics offerings.
As a VSB faculty member with a tenure- track or non-tenure track appointment, he/she will be assigned to a VSB department and evaluated by the department chair on teaching, research, administration, and service to VSB. The position is open to applicants from all business disciplines.
Minimum requirements include an understanding of the unique challenges of managing in a faith-based environment and commitment to the concept of distance learning and other technologically-based educational delivery systems as educational tools.

United Methodist Church: Senior Research Data Analyst (application deadline updated)

GCFA is presently seeking candidates for an addition to the Data Services team in the position of Senior Research Data Analyst. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing senior leadership and managers with an increased capacity to analyze data and leverage analyses that supports the General Council on Finance and Administration’s (GCFA) priorities; assistance in the management of the research and analysis activities of the agency, including collaboration with other agencies and researchers; the development and dissemination of data products for use by decision makers at all levels of the connection; responsible for making research recommendations to existing and newly forming programs and assisting with other special assignments related to program effectiveness and research as assigned. Will also use advanced statistical analysis, qualitative analysis, relevant academic research, and the development and interpretation of measurement tools (e.g. surveys) to assess the economic and social impact of the Church in society and to promote a healthy self-understanding of the state of the Church locally, regionally and globally.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related quantitative analytical field is required.
• 8+ years’ experience in a diverse and complex organization, to include supervision and development of subordinates, accountability for project management and product delivery, integration of related functions, and customer/client support.
• Must have proven experience with publication; report writing; project management; database management; statistical analysis tools and desktop publishing programs.
• Experience in policy analysis that includes advanced, complex statistical modeling, fluency in high level research tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA) and fluency with databases and data-gathering instruments (e.g., surveys, observational rubrics, advanced information systems).
• Experience with advanced statistical procedures.
• Knowledge or willingness to learn United Methodist denominational polity and organizational structure essential.
